March 2026 Ordinary Session: National Assembly Fine-Tunes Final Preparations

With the opening of the March 2026 ordinary session approaching, the administrative machinery of Cameroon’s National Assembly has entered an active coordination phase. On Monday, 2 March 2026, the Secretary General of the National Assembly, Mr. Essian André Noël, convened a high-level working meeting at the Paul Biya Glass House to review progress made and align services ahead of the session scheduled to open on Tuesday, 10 March.
The meeting brought together heads of administrative departments and senior officials of the institution, reflecting a collective effort to ensure a smooth and efficient parliamentary session. From the outset, the Secretary General acknowledged the commitment shown by staff across departments and commended the teams for the successful conduct of the November 2025 session. He also highlighted the effective organization of the presidential swearing-in ceremony held at the National Assembly, citing it as evidence of growing administrative coherence and professionalism.
Discussions then moved to a sector-by-sector assessment of preparedness. Each departmental head presented updates on ongoing arrangements, lessons drawn from previous sessions, and adjustments planned to address operational challenges. These presentations allowed for a candid review of internal processes, with particular attention paid to coordination, logistics, and service delivery during plenary sittings.
Throughout the exchanges, the Secretary General issued targeted guidance aimed at improving efficiency and anticipating potential constraints. Clear operational directions were agreed upon, with an emphasis on accountability and timely execution. Their implementation, he noted, would be closely monitored through an inspection visit planned ahead of the formal opening of the session.
Beyond session-related matters, the meeting also provided space for institutional coordination on upcoming events. Mrs. Mabel Ndikum, Chairperson of the Organising Committee for the 2026 International Women’s Day celebrations at the National Assembly, briefed participants on the level of preparedness for the commemoration, underlining its importance within the parliamentary calendar.
The working session was attended by Deputy Secretaries General, the Controller General for Administration and Finance, Technical Advisers and Mission Officers, underscoring the inclusive and cross-cutting approach adopted by the parliamentary administration as it prepares for the resumption of legislative activities.
