Hon. Julius Fonge Welcomes Speaker’s Call for Accountability

Hon. Julius Fonge Fongouck, CPDM Member of Parliament for Kupe Manengouba, described the opening address of the Speaker of the National Assembly as one that touched on issues of immediate concern to citizens. “You realize that he touched topical issues, which affect the general well-being of all and sundry, particularly the people that we represent,” he noted, commending the relevance of the themes raised in the speech. The parliamentarian particularly welcomed the Speaker’s appeal for greater oversight and accountability in the management of public resources. “For once, he kind of tasked the parliamentarians that we are to be alive to demand accountability for those managing our resources,” Hon. Fonge Fongouck stated, emphasizing the importance of Parliament’s oversight role. Expressing satisfaction with the address, the lawmaker said the speech provided a clear sense of direction for the work ahead. “I think that we are very happy with what we heard today,” he said, adding that “the take home is that we should all be on our feet to be able to confront the challenges which we have in front of us.” For the MP, the speech was both an encouragement and a call to action for parliamentarians as they embark on the business of the Second Ordinary Session of the 2026 Legislative Year.
